AI Engineer
Department
Engineering
Employment type
Full-time
Location
Belgrade, Serbia
We're looking for an AI Engineer who is, above all, a strong builder. Someone who knows how to ship agentic systems in production and obsesses over making them faster, smarter, and more reliable every week.
The role
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on shipping. We want someone who loves turning ideas into working systems and seeing them in the hands of real users.
You'll own the AI systems that power how designers work inside Wonder: agentic flows, tool-calling orchestration, retrieval and context strategies, evaluation loops, and the layers that turn raw model capability into a product people rely on. You'll move quickly, ship often, and improve quality with every iteration.
The ideal person is highly technical, deeply product-minded, and has a real sense for design and user experience. We're building AI agents for designers, so craft matters here. You should care about how an interaction feels, what a good output looks like, and the small details that separate a magical experience from a mediocre one.
In one sentence: Build AI systems that help designers go from idea to high-quality experience faster than ever before.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and ship agentic workflows that reason, call tools, gather context, and take real actions
- Own retrieval and search strategies so the model has the right context at the right time
- Build and tune tool-calling orchestration, prompt systems, evaluation loops, and quality improvements across the product
- Move quickly between experimentation and production. Get things working, then make them great
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to make Wonder's AI feel fast, reliable, and genuinely useful
- Help shape early architecture, technical standards, and how we think about AI quality across the company
What we're looking for
- A strong builder. You ship agentic systems in production, not prototypes
- Deep, hands-on experience with LLM-powered systems: tool calling, agentic flows, context management, and retrieval
- Strong engineering fundamentals and high ownership. You can take an idea from sketch to shipped feature
- Bias for speed and iteration without sacrificing quality
- A real sense for design and user experience. We're building AI for designers, so craft matters
- Good intuition for product quality and a real interest in building for creative users
- A genuine obsession with making agents better, faster, smarter, more reliable
- Bonus: experience building AI systems for creative tools or other craft-heavy products
